Engineering colleges take entrance exams before taking admission in their respected courses, pupils need to secure a good rank for getting good colleges and branches. In this article, we dealt with the topmost entrance tests for pursuing a diploma in engineering(Polytechnic), Undergraduate(BE/B Tech) and post-graduate(ME/M Tech) courses in engineering.

In India, pursuing engineering is one of the prior options for most students. Some students start to follow this course after their matriculation, and the rest chooses science in their intermediate. Both the options are good in their perspective, and take a similar time to complete the b-tech.

1. Polytechnic entrance exam

Those pupils who are willing to pursue engineering courses after 10th  could pursue Polytechnic. This is a 3-years diploma course for 10th pass out, and 2 years for an intermediate, includes 6 semesters and 4 semesters respectively. Students need to appear for the entrance examination to get admission in the polytechnic colleges, some of the important polytechnic entrance exam are as follows:-

2. BE / B-tech entrance exams 2021

In India, there are lots of options available to pursue engineering, like Pvt-owned colleges, state-owned colleges, and national colleges as well. The candidate who has completed their polytechnic could also take lateral entry in b-tech courses, all they need to clear the entrance test. These exams are based on the syllabus of 12th, in which total questions are equally shared between Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.   • JEE mains – Joint Entrance Examination mains

This is a very important exam for engineering conducted by NTA (before 2018 CBSE used to conduct this) and is the first choice for every engineering aspirant. There is a very tuff competition in this exam, every year, more than 10 lakh students appear in this exam. This exam opens the door to NITs, IITs, and CFTIs, however, students need to clear JEE advance for IITs. JEE mains 2021 is getting held four times, the current session got suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the date would announce soon. In the examination, a total of 90 questions are asked ( 30 questions from each subject), each question gives 4 marks for the right answer and -1 on the wrong answer. Based on the performance students get the NITs, and engineering field e.g. to get admission in CSE, electric, mechanic and Civil branch student needs to score good marks. The no. of attempts that you can give JEE mains exam is 4 times a year, and you can do the same for three consecutive years after passing 12th.

  • JEE Advanced – Joint Entrance Examination Advanced

This is the most important and toughest engineering entrance exam, jointly organized by the seven Zonal IITs. These IIT s are IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Guwahati every year. To get eligible for this examination you need to clear JEE mains first, and this is enough to show the level of JEE advanced. The examination is comprised of two papers, 54 questions each paper, and both papers contain a total of 366 marks. Once a pupil clears JEE advanced, they will directly get entry in IITs ( depending on the rank).  You are allowed to give two attempts in JEE advanced exam and could give JEE advanced after clearing the JEE mains.

  • BITSAT –

BITSAT’s full form is Birla Institute of Science and Technology Admission Test. This is a very popular university-level entrance exam for engineering, students from all over the country could apply for it. Here, a total of 150 questions are asked in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English proficiency, and logical reasoning. Based on the performance in the BITSAT, the student’s merit list would be made. Based on their rank and marks obtained in 12th, students get their places in BIT campuses of Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. BITSAT 2021 application will close on 25th July 2021, and the entrance exam is expected to be held in the 1st or 2nd  week of August.

  • MHTCET

MHTCET full form is Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. MHTCET is an entrance test, held every year by the government of Maharashtra through which students can take admission in government and private engineering colleges in the state. Students from all over India could apply for this, here a special quota is given to the Maharashtra students. After clearing the entrance test successfully, students are eligible to get admission to the state’s engineering colleges ( Merit list is made on the basis of performance). The last date of the MHTCET 2021 application is 15th July 2021, and the exam date is yet to be announced.

  • BCECE

BCECE full form is Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. BCECE is an engineering entrance examination conducted by the Bihar education board every year, students who have the domicile of Bihar, or their parents belong from Bihar or working in Bihar are eligible to apply for the exam. 100 questions are asked from each subject i.e. 300 questions are equally shared between Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Successful students will get their admission for professional engineering courses in government colleges of Bihar.

  • COMEDK

COMEDK full form is the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. The Education board of Karnataka used to organize COMEDK UGET and Uni-GAUGE entrance test to take admission in BE/B-tech course in engineering colleges of Karnataka. Intermediate appearing and pass our Students from all over India are eligible to give this examination, in which special attention is given to Karnataka students. There is not any provision to take lateral entry in their colleges, therefore a diploma student is not eligible to give COMEDK. COMEDK 2021 application will close on 31st July, and their exam date is yet to be announced.

  • WBJEE

WBJEE full form is West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. WBJEE is the most popular exam for engineering entrance other than JEE mains and JEE advanced, it is conducted by the West Bengal education board. Students from all over India are eligible to give the WBJEE exam, and successful students will get the opportunity to take admission in West Bengal engineering colleges. WBJEE questions are based on the intermediate physics, chemistry, and Mathematics syllabus.

  • VIEEE

VIEEE full form is the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam. This is a university-level engineering entrance test conducted by the Vellore institute of technology, based on the intermediate PCM syllabus. Students from all over India could give VIEEE exam, the successful students would get the chance to take admission in VIT campuses of Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Andhra Pradesh. Students who are willing to take admission in VIT need to fill the application form on the official site of VIT and give the examination.

  • SRMJEE

SRMJEE full form is Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by SRM University. SRMJEE is also a university-level entrance test for engineering, it is conducted by SRM university itself. Students from all over India are eligible to give SRMJEE, questions are based on the 12th intermediate syllabus. On the basis of the performance in the exam, a student’s rank is made and could take admission in SRM University engineering college. Students need to fill the application form for SRMJEE by visiting the official site of SRM University, you can also get other pieces of information regarding the university.

  • AP EAMCET

AP EAMCET full form is  Andhra Pradesh Engineering And Medical Common Entrance Test. This is one of the most famous engineering entrance tests in India, AP EAMCET is conducted by the Andhra Pradesh education board. Intermediate appearing or passed Pupils from all over India are eligible to give AP EAMCET, here a special provision is made for Andhra Pradesh students. Based on the performance in the AP EAMCET students rank is made, and according to the rank, they will get the college and engineering branches.

3. M-tech entrance exams

M-tech is a post-graduate course in engineering, pupils who have completed their BE/B-tech can apply for the M-tech programs.
