What is TULIP Internship Program

TULIP means The Urban Learning Internships Program.  TULIP is to provide training opportunities for thousands of graduates and fresh engineers in the province within the framework of “smart city” projects.

The TULIP portal was developed by AICTE. Under the training program, students will work in 100 smart cities under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. According to the TULIP portal, there are a total of 295,200 internships under 23,970 companies.

Currently, there are 80 Lakh students studying in various engineering colleges in India. These engineering graduates will obtain training opportunities in various departments of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Who is Eligible to apply for TULIP Internship:

Students with a Bachelor’s degree in Technology( B Tech), B Planning, B. Arch, BA, BSc, BCom, and LLB can enroll in internship programs according to their interests.

What is the Goal for this TULIP Internship:

TULIP Interns will acquire a large number of fields including but not limited to urban planning, urban design, various branches of engineering, information, technology, mobility, finance, social sector issues, and environmental issues. The program will provide them with an insight into policy formulation and implementation. On a daily basis, they will interact with city officials/members of civil society. They will be directed towards best practices, knowledge sharing, and project implementation on the ground. The interns will bring with them a rich experience in urban governance that will assist them in their future endeavors.

How to register in urban local authorities under the TULIP portal:

Visit https://internship.aicte-india.org/
Click on the “Register” option under the “Government Agency” tab displayed on the screen.
Fill in the details on the form and carry the logo (ULB / Smart City) and the certificate of appointment (for the relevant authority).

What are the Benefits of  TULIP Internship:

Short-term exposure to fresh graduates to further their professional development through experiential learning with ULBs and smart cities.
Harnessing new energy and ideas towards ULBs and smart cities seeks to solve critical challenges.

Eligibility requirements for TULIP Internship:

Open only to Indian citizens. It must not have been more than 18 months since the date of the announcement of the results of the final year to the date when the training is requested.

Duration and extension of engagement:

  • The Intern period is a minimum of 8 weeks for up to one year.
  • Salary and other allowances
  • The salary amount/subsistence allowance/expenses will be paid at the discretion of ULB / Smart City and there will be no liability for the provision of any business in ULB or Smart City.

Logistics services:

  1. Interns must bring laptops / mobile internet connection / other devices etc. as needed.
  2. Interns usually arrange their accommodation and transportation to and from their place of residence to the place of training.
  3. However, ULB / Smart City may offset the transportation/travel expenses incurred by the trainee during any assignment, which will be at the discretion of ULB / Smart City.
  4. Smart City / ULB, if they so decide, may support the trainees, in whatever way they deem appropriate, with the resources necessary to get the job done at their discretion.

Training certificate:

A digitally signed and shareable certificate for successful completion of the training must be issued jointly by the Ministry of Health Affairs, State Government, AICTE, and Smart City / ULB.
