What is UPSC

UPSC is an organization that conducts recruitment examinations for all the three central Indian public sector services, namely Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service. In India, the UPSC is usually considered one of the toughest examinations in terms of competition.

All you need to do is register yourself with UPSC to apply for various job opportunities through UPSC’s public service commission websites or by going through their walk-in centers in different cities. UPSC is a very reputed government organization for various job openings in the country, and therefore you must try to register with them and give their examinations. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the final authority on recruitment matters concerning the Central Government.

The Commission advises the President on matters relating to recruitment and conditions of service of persons appointed to civil posts under the Central Government. It has powers to prescribe minimum qualifications and other conditions of service of persons appointed to civil posts under the Central Government.

The Commission has four members, following the 66th Constitutional Amendment Act of 1992 that increased its membership from three to four. The Chairman and Members are appointed by the President based on a panel of five candidates recommended by a committee consisting of the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Speaker, Chief Justice and Union Public Service Commission Chairman.

An Act of Parliament set up the UPSC in 1925. The Act was called the Union Public Service Commission Act. Under the same Act, provincial Public Service Commissions were also established in 1926. In 1952, after enacting the new Constitution, these provincial commissions were abolished, and their functions were transferred to state governments. This step was considered necessary since all powers relating to recruitment and conditions of service of civil servants were vested with the Union Government.

UPSC exams are famous for their difficulty and the Jobs you can get after clearing them. There are about 23 lac people who appear for the exam annually. According to last year’s merit list, only around 800 candidates got selected. The examination schedule is announced from January – February, after which the selection is done in 3 stages. Candidates are filtered at every stage through a process of elimination. The exam is conducted every year, and the results are announced in January and February. UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. It is based on the British era Imperial Civil Service tests and the civil service tests conducted by old Indian empires such as the Mauryan Empire and Mughal Empire. On average, 900,000 to 1,000,000 candidates apply every year, and the number of candidates sitting in the preliminary examination is approximately 550,000. A single attempt takes two complete years of preparation – one year before the prelims and one year from prelims to interview.

UPSC ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAM

Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted to recruit officers for the services which cater to the technical functions of the Government of India in the field of engineering. The union government selects officers on the recommendation of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC conducts a three-stage competitive examination (preliminary, main and personality tests) to recruit the Engineering Services. Many candidates take the exams, competing for a limited number of posts. Officers recruited through ESE are mandated to manage and conduct activities in diverse technical fields.

UPSC INDIAN ECONOMIC SERVICE Exam

The Indian Economic Service Examination (IES) & the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) notification of 2021 will be held from July 17 to 18, 2021. The official Notification for the IES/ISS exam was released on April 07, 2021. The online application window will be active between April 07 and April 27, 2021 (3 days). The exam will be conducted once a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The candidates must have obtained a Post Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics degree from a recognized university approved by the Central Government of India.

UPSC NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY Exam

NDA is one of the most sought-after defense entrance exams in the country. The exam is conducted for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). Around four lakh aspirants appear for NDA every year, out of which approximately 6,000 are called for SSB interviews. UPSC prepares a list of candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written exam. Candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for the exam.

UPSC COMBINED MEDICAL SERVICES Exam

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Medical Services Examination or CMS Examination for recruitment as Medical Officer in various organizations such as the Indian Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council functioning under the Government of India. Successful candidates are admitted after an interview by the UPSC for those having qualified for the written examination. The Notification for the examination is usually released in April, and the examination is conducted in July. Candidates who qualify in the written exam are called for an Interview/Personality Test with 100 marks.

UPSC INDIAN ADMINISTRATION SERVICE Exam

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS), formerly known as the Imperial Civil Service (ICS), is the Civil Services Examination and one of the toughest competitive exams in India. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for this examination, testing their lucks and hard work to get through one of these prestigious posts. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the IAS Preliminary Exam 2021 scheduled on June 27 due to the ongoing lockdown and the second wave of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. The final merit list for the CSE will be released in May.

UPSC CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES Exam

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to the uniform nomenclature of seven security forces in India under the Ministry of Home Affairs authority. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the CAPF Assistant Commandant (AC) recruitment notification for 209 vacancies. The examination will be held on August 08, 2021, in accordance with the rules for the examination published by the. The Union Public released the CAPF AC’s 2021 exam notification. UPSC SCRA Exam

UPSC SCRA is Union Public Service Commission Special Class Railway Apprentices. The exam is conducted mainly for Railway service recruitment. The recruitment process is conducted in three stages. Candidates shortlisted based on the written exam scores will attend Stage-2, which is the personality test. The candidate must have completed the 10+2 model of education to be eligible to apply for the test. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute can also apply for this exam.

JOB – The examination is conducted to hire skilled graduates for the post of Class I officers in Indian Railways.

UPSC COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES Exam

The Combined Defense Services Examination (abbreviated as CDS Exam) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board. The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 01, 1962, to forever live comfortably in India.

UPSC INDIAN FOREST SERVICE Exam

The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the three All India Services. The exam is conducted for recruitment to forestry services of India. The UPSC IFS Preliminary Exam 2021 will take place on June 27, 2021, Whereas the IFS Main exam will start on November 21, 2021. The online registration process has started on March 04, 2021, and it will end on March 24, 2021. The total number of vacancies announced in the official Notification is approximately 110. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, Economically Weaker Section and PWD categories will be provided with the reservation according to the Government.
